Finding Balance: Juggling Dance, Fitness, and Family Beach Trips
Hey everyone!
This week has been one of those where everything seems to get thrown off balance. Our usual routine has been a bit out of whack with a busier-than-usual schedule. On our agenda, we had dance practice, running, and strength training lined up, but life had other plans, and we managed to tick off only some of these activities.
Despite our best efforts, dance has unfortunately fallen by the wayside this week. It’s just the nature of life sometimes. And while we could let this derail us, we’ve chosen to embrace the unexpected twist. What threw a wrench in our workout gears was actually something delightful – our monthly beach trip!
This year, we resolved to take a trip to the beach once a month, and it has been absolutely wonderful. These beach trips have become our mini-retreats, helping us reset, reevaluate our priorities, and spend more quality time together as a family. Plus, it’s been a fantastic way to prioritize rest and relaxation above all else.
Our kids have loved these trips, and I’m happy to declare that it seems like we’re raising little beach bums! There’s something magical about the beach that brings out the best in everyone – the sound of the waves, the sand between our toes, and the endless sky. It’s been a perfect way to unwind and recharge.
Now that we’re back, it’s time to catch up on our workout game. Even though we didn’t manage to get in as much physical practice as we’d hoped, we’ve been staying engaged with our dance routines through visualization. If you’ve never tried visualization, I highly recommend it.
Recent studies have found that athletes who visualize their practice can improve as much, if not more, than those who actually practice physically. Of course, the effectiveness of visualization depends on how you do it, but more on that in our next post. Visualizing dance moves and going over new information from our lessons in my head has been surprisingly effective. It's amazing how powerful the mind can be in reinforcing muscle memory and improving technique without even moving a muscle.
As we dive back into our dance practices this week, we can’t wait to see the results of our visualization exercises and feel the rhythm of the music guiding our steps once again. We’re eager to get back on the dance floor and continue our journey, one step at a time.
Until next time, keep dancing, keep visualizing, and remember to find joy in the unexpected twists and turns of life.
Warmly,
Natalia
